I've heard about these fried tomatos that Grandmom Casey used to cook. I've heard they were great, but don't know exactly how these were made. From what I've heard it involves a big cast iron pan, tomatoes, flower, salt pepper etc., but it's like I have the parts, but not the assembly instructions.
Anyone know how these were made?? I'd love to hear about it

The fried tomatoes were fried in old bacon grease which Grandmom kept in a tin coffee container in the freezer. That's the trick to the taste (and I think some coffee grinds were in the grease as well). As for serving them, throw 'em on a paper plate with lots of salt. Ummmm yummmmy
MY MOTHER ALSO KNOWN AS AUNT HONEY USED TO MAKE THEM ALL THE TIME.SHE LEARNED FROM GRANDMOM. I MAKE THEM MYSELF SOMETIMES SO DOES MY SISTER LINDA UNFORNATELY I DON'T THINK MINE ARE AS GOOD AS GRANDMOM'S OR MY MOTHER'S.USE BIG JERSEY TOMATOS DIP IN FLOUR BOTH SIDES THEN FRY IN CAST IRON SKILLET USE LOTS AND LOTS OF BUTTER OR MARGARINE THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO GET REAL CRUSTY.WHILE THEY ARE FRING BOTH GRANDMOM AND MY MOM WOULD KINDA CHOP AT THEMTO KEEP THEM SOTA MUSHY HAHAHAHA I'M NOT SURE ANYONE CAN FOLLOW THIS BUT THEY TASTE REALLY GOOD FRANCES ANNE
OK, and then how do you serve them? I think my Dad mentioned that they'd put them on rolls and eat like a sandwhich. Sounds kind of sloppy, but GOOD!!! I've never had these in my life - I'M SO DEPRIVED !!!
