  • I remember some of these partys well. I remember (vaguely) big pots of clam chowder on the stove (I think), and crabs all over a table covered with newspaper. I think I remember one time futzing with a crab trying to get the meat out for a while - Grandpop was watching me, and after a while he said, gimme that, I'll show you how to do it, and he popped the whole thing (shell and all) into his mouth. After 'chewing' a little, he pulled out the shell, picked clean. I was totally amazed. (I still try this once in a while, but can't do it). I also remember during some of these parties, walking to a candy store a few blocks away with older cousins and buying candy with nickles and dimes - all was right with the world!!!
    • no clam chowder....grandmom would only have crabs....and every time she made them she said " not HOT enough"
      hhahhaha
    • I remember th party all the uncles were jumping off the back bay...larry and brain were very young and they were on the dock aunt jackie was scared the kids were going to get pushed in ,she was yelling "LARRY LARRY' the kids and he quick pushed young larry back and fell into the water hahahhha
  • My favorite shore party memories are at Aunt Kass' backbay (red house) - I know a couple of uncles went for a swim there too!! One lost their car keys!
    • I totally remember that party. Thats the one that the picture of the Uncle Dan, Bill, Bill Faunce, and Bill Schlegle is from.

I always remember those parties being "hat" parties. Some of the pictures show the weird hats people used to wear, but maybe that was a later invention. I remember one particular party in the late 70's when Colleen (my sister) was just a few years old when my Dad had gone out to get ice or more booze or something and Colleen was crying like crazy and we handed her to Uncle Ed and we think she thought Uncle Ed was my Dad and she calmed down. Not sure why I remember that, but I'll never forget it. I'm pretty sure that was another "hat" party.
    • I know who lost their keys - It was Uncle Bill and Aunt Queen was furious.
  • Do you remember after one of the cocktail parties all the uncles going down to the ocean in the dark and going swimming. They had ropes around their waists and their wives held the other end on the beach. Boy they must have been drunk to do that. Who knows whats in that water................
    • HAHAHA YES I REMEMBER THAT THEY HAD PUT A TIRE INNER TUBE AND ROPE AROUND UNCLE DAN
