Uncle Putz

My Mom just told me that Putz means "Jackass" in either Jewish or Polish. He was names that in the service. She doesn't know why. She called Aunt Kass who gave her that info.

  • I remember my first job out of high school working as a receptionist for a law firm which consisted of mainly Jewish lawyers. I was so inexperienced that many of the lawyers would just roll their eyes when I greeted them good morning. Then came the first office Christmas party I attended (I was 18 at the time) and I mentioned I had an Uncle Putz. I really thought was his name and they told me it was a Jewish nickname for (should I repeat this???? - 'D..." - not duck). Well you can imagine the riot that caused. They nearly fell of their chairs with laughter. It's funny how you can connect with people on the strangest things. From that point on, I was greeted every morning by every lawyer with a smile. Thanks Uncle Putz!!!!
  • Uncle Jackass, eh? It would be interesting to find out what Pamela Faunce knows about her grandfather's nickname.
