On Monday, I had bread and gravy, Tuesday gravy on bread, Wednesday and Thursday, gravy on toast and that's merely gravy on bread. On Friday I called in the landlord and said can you give me a change. On Saturday morning without any warning, I had gravy without any bread.
I also remember this one:
On Monday I pushed out my auto, On Tuesday I gave it a clean, On Wednesday and Thursday, a crowd gathered around and said what a dandy machine. On Friday I filled it with gasoline and rubbed it all over with lard, On Saturday morning it started to rain, so I pushed it back into the yard.
No, I don't remember ever hearing that one. I always remember "I went to the animal fair, all the birds and the beasts were there..."

I saw a baboon by the light of the moon and he had golden hair
The monkey, he got drunk
And sat on the elephants trunk, the elephant sneezed, fell down on his knees
And what became of the monk, the monk, the monk.
I cannot remember my cellphone number, why do i remember this?

I remember the birds and the beasts (now that you jogged my memory)
And "Old Mr. Dunderback, we think your kind of mean..." then something about grinding up puppy dogs in some machine (pretty gross now that I think of it, but loved it back then)
I think that was Uncle Ed's number though, not Grandpop's if I remember correctly.
