Ducks in Sea Isle

Did Mom (Aung Mae) ever tell you about the ducks. This is a new one on me. This is the story that she relayed to me. A small Sea Isle City was settled by a religious group (Methodist relatives of Uncle Putts Faunce) . When she was 7, my Mother(Grandmom) developed a goiter in her neck. Sea air was supposed to help cure a goiter. Uncle Bill Waples came up with $200 to rent a house at Sea Isle for the summer. I believe that there were maybe five Casey children at the time, plus Grandmom, two Faunce Boys and Aunt Ruth all piled into Uncle Frank's car and went to Sea Isle without having rented a house to live in. We rented a place after getting there. On one occasion my Mother had bought two little ducks at Easter Time. By summer they were full grown and came to Sea Isle with us. I remember walking down to the beach to swim and the ducks following us. At that time the beach was sparsley populated. Afterwards, Mother gave the ducks to a farmer from whom she bought eggs every week. Our Dads worked through the week and came down on the week-ends.

my mother told me they had ducks and chicks almost every Easter.....then gave them to a farm ater awhile

I never heard that story, but I know there is a picture of my Dad somewhere and he is holding a duck. He looks like he's only 10 or maybe younger. I'll look for it, but I'm not sure I have it. I'm pretty sure it's at my parents house somewhere. Dad & Mom - you guys know this picture I'm sure!

  OK, maybe I'm wrong, now I'm not sure. I did find a picture, but ... alas, it's not a duck, it's a rabbit...
  (between the ducks, rabbits, the dog Timmy, and all those kids, it must have been a zoo!!)
