  • That was great. I don't really remember that party all that well. I do remember being there and can vaguely picture the banquet room, but not much else. Great poem and some nice history.
  • i have a copy of the poem....my mom put in her photo album
i remember how they laughed and enjoyed the poem.............HOW DID HE GET THAT JOB ANYWAY?????
did someone ask him to write it............i agee he did a great job,
    • No, he volunteered. He loved writing poems. I remember a couple of other times he did that.........I'm not sure, maybe for a work event.
      • Maybe his poems for the Bent Crank Society are in his files at Mom's. Next time I come back I'll go through those papers.
        • I'll look Joyce. I love looking at all this albums and papers.
  • Thanks Donna and Larry , I think he really was a poet too...................He was alot of things..................
    • Dad did love to write poems. When he worked at NSA he belonged to a group called the Bent Crank Society. He always wrote funny poems about his co-workers who were getting awards or retiring. I think they even had a bent crank award.
  • This is priceless Maureen. The 50th wedding anniversary was a real highlight and this poem I distinctly remember your father reading. I am SOOOOOO happy that you put it on the website because it was truly the BEST part of the anniversary. Your father was the BEST and this poem was a masterpiece. I have video of their 50th anniversary (but of course no sound) and your father is in the video. I am going to try to have it put on a DVD-R to scan it on this website. What a fabulous memory. One, your father was the greatest and two, he really was a poet!!!! Love Donna.
  • WOW!!! You win the prize Maureen. Reading that was priceless. What a great post. I hope everyone gets to read this, it just shows what a great time they all had, and how lucky we all are (and barely knew it). Thanks for posting this, I had tears in my eyes.
    • It makes me cry every time I read it.......................I really miss him. He was such a wonderful Dad.
