Hi Aunt Jackie: I've been out of touch from the website the past 6 months and was just able to find the time to browse through it and saw your message. I didn'tsend Christmas cards out this year because we are in Dubai. You probably know from Larry that Antonio's job relocated us here. It was really, really rough for the first 6 months (we moved September 10th) finding a place to live, settling in, getting Daniel situated in school, manuevering the city, and learning everything new again. It was so hard to get into the Christmas spirit with the warm weather (Colleen knows how this feels) and before I knew it, Christmas was here. I just wasn't prepared to write out so many cards and notes, so forgive me. I'll be posting a blog soon on the website to let everyone know what it's like here and also post some pictures. It is really fantastic here and blessed to experience it. I am probably the only Philly girl here inthe Middle East and have met people from all over the world and it makes for interesting conversation. We live in a high rise apartment building overlooking the lake and have made some new friends. Daniel is going to an international Austrailian based school and is having a ball. They put him in second grade and he is doing well. It's a beautiful school - and all the children are very happy (which is always a good sign, isn't it). I feel like we live in New York City sometimes with all the skyscrapers, the congestion of cars, the mix of people, the grittiness of the sidewalks (it's very dusty here - there's no rain), but then, we have expansive beautiful beaches witin 2 minutes from us. There are so many places to see and do and we try to do something new one day every weekend now because the weather is beautiful this time of year. The heat starts to kick in during late April, May and then it's unbearable throughout the summer. We are planning to come home in July when Daniel is finished school to escape the heat and spend a long visit. I miss everyone so much and on top of that my mom is recovering from her shoulder fracture. It's hard for me not being with her - I'm struggling with that right now - but she assures me she's in good hands and that I don't need to jump on a plane to get to her. I'm praying that she will have a speedy post-op recovery and there's not much I can do right now for her anyway. My brothers are all pitching in and they assured me they can handle this situation so I defer to them. But it's still hard being away because I worry too much. Anyway, I'll write again soon and thanks for the message. All my love to Uncle Larry and kisses and hugs to everyone. Love Donna
Hi Joyce.....It would be great to see you in November. Its hard for me to make plans so far in advance (am lucky to have made the flight and hotel reservations already). Hopefully we can make a plan when it gets closer. As it is now, we are 2 nights at the airport holiday inn express. Colleen gets in on Thanksgiving morning. We have no plans for Wednesday at this point. We will keep in touch.... for now, have a wonderful time in Ireland, it is beautiful....I think you'll enjoy it.
If you will be in SF for two days, maybe we could come take you out for a meal, maybe some sightseeing. Or if you'd like to come south, we could show you around Monterey, Carmel and Pebble Beach. We could put you up for a night if you'd like. Or are you going to spend time with Colleen in SF on those two days?
Hi Jackie, No I haven't looked for the lyrics lately. I will before next July. That's great you are coming West. Unfortunately, we are two and a half hours south of San Francisco airport. Will you be there long?
hey. Fancy meeting you here. i didn't know you were on the site. i'm looking forward to coming to oyu're house but i don't know who'll take care of Tully while me AND Meghan are gone.
It only took me how long to get on here? I got your voicemail. As soon as Friesland settles, I'll let you know the price. Its scheduled to settle 6/27.
Aunt Jackie, My Mom still drives too. Her car has a few scrapes on it, but she always swears that she didn't do it. Who knows. She doesn't drive far since she moved to Leisure World. Everything is close by. She is very independent. She very rarely asks me to do anything for her. I had to fight with her to get her to agree to hearing aids. She was getting really hard to talk too. Anyhow, things are much better now. She hears very well now, when she puts them in.
