I have another weird memory from the Dolphin. That motel was right on the Ocean Drive just outside of Strathmere, so just the one road going north/south. It was a two story building in an L shape facing the road. I remember sitting outside our room, just chilling, reading a book or something when all of a sudden I hear the screeching of tires and I look up just in time to see some kid (10 - 12 approx) getting hit by a car right there right in front of the Dolphin! The really weird part was that the kid just jumped right up and ran onto the beach!!!!
Unfortunately, thats all i really remember about that little episode. I wonder if anyone else remembers that.
I know all the Casey brothers stayed there (Dan, Bill, Larry, Ed). The only cousins that were still going 'with their parents' by then was probably Joe, me, Larry, Colleen, Bob, and Trish. I don't remember for sure if the Casey sisters stayed there or not. Aunt Kass looks like the only one not wearing a swimsuit in that picture, so maybe she was just visiting. I'm just not sure about the Schlegle's or Day's. I do remember some other relatives being there though. Pam Faunce (daughter Kim)? Is that right? I think she went there a year or two.
I'm pretty sure we stayed there at least 3 years. Maybe more. For whatever reason, I remember being down there the year Prince Charles and "Lady" Diana got married... according to Wikipedia, that was July 1981. I think i saw my mom upload some pictures from 1982 saying that was the last year at Charlies. So '81 and '82 for sure. I think '80 as well, but not positive.
